The much anticipated third edition of Agricincome E-Magazine with the theme “Enabling Sustainable Food System through Diversification of Rural Livelihood” is here.
Achieving the SDG goal 2 Zero hunger by 2030 is a priority. The demand for food has been increasing especially with the rapidly exploding population, therefore there is a need to increase food production and adopt sustainable food production systems.
The majority of the food produced in the world is from small-scale and rural farmers, yet many of them are unable to earn a decent living.
Enabling a Sustainable food production system through diversification of rural livelihood plays a key role in ensuring food supply to sustain development and growth. Sustainable food systems are inevitably linked with efforts to eradicate hunger because the livelihood of a large population is based upon these systems and we cannot afford to leave the rural farmers behind.
Diversification of Rural livelihood is one of the keys to achieving Zero hunger activities and the focus should be on connecting dynamic small-scale farms with value-addition and adopting sustainable food production systems.
Rural farmers are still the foundation of food production across the world. They play a major role in achieving zero hunger and ensuring food security, creating and enabling more sustainable practices will help in transforming food systems.
